It’s 80 degrees in La Ceiba today. Enough said.

Josh and I flew into Boston safely Saturday morning in the middle of a few days of heavy snow. It’s been great to visit with family, friends, supporters, and our home churches.
One of our “objectives” for our time home is collecting school supplies to bring back to La Ceiba. This morning our friend Rob Picardi dropped off 7 boxes of school supplies — 145 lbs in total — from a drive at our high school, Lexington Christian Academy. Thanks so much for your generosity!!

We’ll be giving these supplies and other donations from individuals to two public schools in Armenia Bonito. There’s a big need for the most basic supplies there; even the teenage boys at our Christmas party were thrilled to color and glue a simple craft. It’s such a joy to help provide for the community in this way. Many thanks for all of your support, and Merry Christmas!
For as in the day of Midian’s defeat,
you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them,
the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor.
Every warrior’s boot used in battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning,
will be fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
-Isaiah 9:4-6

That's right. The three of us -- Josh Bolton, Jamie Jacobsen, and Andy Stuntz -- are delaying college for a year to serve as missionary interns in La Ceiba, Honduras. We'll be helping two new missionary families as they plant a church, start a medical clinic, and reach out to street kids. Mostly though, we want to be vulnerable and to experience and share the power and hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That's where it's at, and that's where we want to be. Join us as we slowly learn what in the world that means!
